14 Month Old Sleep Schedule
When your baby is 14 months old, their sleeping habits are starting to take shape. It is important to establish a regular sleep routine including a consistent bedtime, number of naps throughout the day, and setting up your toddler to sleep through the night.
Bedtime
For 14 month olds, it is recommended to set a bedtime around 7-8pm. To ensure your baby is getting a full parenting cycle, it is best to set a consistent time that the same every day. This will prevent them from becoming over-tired and having difficulty falling asleep.
Naps
Most 14 month olds will have two naps throughout the day. These naps usually occur midmorning and afternoon. In order to ensure that these nap times don’t push back the evening bedtime, it is best to ensure that each nap is no longer than an hour and half long.
Sleep Through the Night
At 14 months old, your toddler should be able to sleep through the night without needing a middle of the night feed. To help them develop this ability, it is important to establish a calming nighttime routine. This includes:
- Turn off electronics: This reduces distraction and prepares your toddler for bed.
- Dimming the lights: Dimming the lights signals to your baby that it is time to sleep.
- Stick to the same routine: This includes stories, singing, rocking or whatever else you have established as part of your particular routine.
By providing your baby with a consistent bedtime routine, you can help ensure that they have a restful sleep every night.
