4 Ways to Juggle the On-Demand of Pregnancy and Your Job

Having a baby is a beautiful thing. But it’s not all baby clothes and gender reveals — there’s the realities of balancing pregnancy with a career or job. Here are four ways to make it all easier.

1. Speak Up

Human Resources should know of your pregnancy in advance. Have a conversation with your HR department to discuss the best policies and practices that are available to you. If flex-time is an option while pregnant, start the conversation early and ensure that you plan accordingly.

2. Have a Backup

If your job calls for long hours, shift changes, and demanding deadlines, it’s helpful to have a backup plan in place for when things get overwhelming. Reach out to your circle of co-workers, family and friends to see who can help out when the job seems too hard to handle, or mommy-to-be needs a break.

3. Stay Healthy

Pregnant women need lots of rest — something that most jobs don’t always allow for. Make sure to plan for plenty of prenatal visits, naps, and time for exercising.
